WHEELING, W.Va. — Summer is officially taking shape across the Ohio Valley, as Wheeling prepares for a full season of outdoor concerts, food festivals, and weekly community events aimed at residents and visitors of all ages.
From live music under the stars to barbecue festivals and recurring weekend gatherings, the 2026 summer schedule brings a wide range of entertainment options across the region.
One of the area’s signature traditions returns as Oglebay Park launches its Sunday night concert series running from late May through early September.
Concerts will be held at the park’s amphitheater from 6 to 9 p.m., with live music beginning around 7 p.m. This year’s lineup includes regional acts and tribute performances honoring classic artists such as the Eagles, Beatles, and Beach Boys, along with a season finale featuring the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra.
Guests attending the series can expect food vendors, family-friendly activities, and scenic outdoor seating throughout the summer months.
Before the concert series gets underway, Oglebay will also host its Backyard BBQ Festival from May 22 through May 24, featuring barbecue vendors, live music, beer and bourbon offerings, family activities, and a fireworks display.
In addition to larger festivals, weekly community events are also returning across the area.
Route 88 Burgers & Brew will once again host Firepit Fridays from 6 to 9 p.m., offering live music, outdoor seating, and a casual weekend atmosphere centered around food and drinks.
Meanwhile, Wheeling Park will continue its Friday night summer series beginning May 22 and running through early September. Each week will feature live music, local vendors, a beer garden, and family activities including inflatables and face painting.
Organizers say the rotating lineup of bands and events is designed to keep the experience fresh each week while providing consistent entertainment options for families throughout the summer.
With multiple events scheduled each week across parks, venues, and community spaces, Wheeling is once again positioning itself as a central destination for summer activity in the Ohio Valley.
Whether attending concerts, enjoying food festivals, or spending Friday nights outdoors, residents will have no shortage of ways to enjoy the 2026 summer season.
