Enjoy a free meal in jail if you steal a campaign sign in Belmont County

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – If you steal campaign signs in Belmont County, the Democratic Party Chair wants to offer you a free meal…in jail.

Belmont County Democratic Party Chair Phil Wallace says people are stealing campaign signs across the county, especially Vice-President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz signs.

Wallace says campaign signs are disappearing almost as soon as they are put up. He said the signs are being stolen everywhere, even from private citizens’ yards.

Wallace says cameras are now up to catch anyone stealing signs and the Belmont County Democratic Party wants thieves prosecuted. Fines and jail are some penalties thieves can face, according to Wallace.

if you steal signs, we will see that you get a free meal in jail.

Wallace says he’s never seen so many signs stolen in an election cycle and attributes the thefts to the importance of the election. Still, he says the signs are costly and stealing them interferes with everyone’s right to express their political beliefs.

Let’s be fair about the whole thing.
