Belmont County roads ready for line painting

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – Belmont County Engineer Terry Lively says several Belmont County roads will undergo line painting work starting this Monday.

Lively explained that line painting, called striping, will be completed on roads repaved this fall in the 7 roads/17 miles project from late this summer plus work on some older roads.

This is a striping, a center line striping. Only on some of our older roads that the stripe is worn off..

Lively explained that the roads in the 7 roads/17 miles project will receive a permanent “644 thermoplastic” paint that can last 10 years. The other roads will receive a water-based paint that does not last as long but will still work.

Motorists complain about the lack of lines in the area along Route 40 by Sheetz and the WalMart Plaza, but Lively says that is private property and the county cannot fix it.

I get that question all the time. Why don’t you go out there and repaint that?
Well, it’s private property. I’m not allowed to so. They had a problem with a couple of really big potholes up there and they did get those filled but the striping is just gone.
