Gov. DeWine preparing to announce Vance’s senate replacement

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has a decision to make.

Who will succeed Vice-President-elect J.D. Vance as senator?

Last night, Vance resigned his Ohio senatorial position in anticipation of his inauguration as Vice President of the United States Jan. 20.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, “DeWine must appoint someone to serve in [Vance’s] seat until 2026. The winner of the November special election that year will fill out the rest of Vance’s term, which ends in 2028.”

DeWine told the Columbus Dispatch that he talked to several candidates for the post and has also conferred with Vance and President Elect Donald J. Trump.

DeWine told reporters he will be making his decision soon.
