GUERNSEY COUNTY, Ohio – A Guernsey County father was charged Thursday with felonious assault and child endangering after medical professionals suspected injuries his baby sustained were the result of child abuse, according to a social media post by Sheriff Jeffrey Paden.
The baby is less than four months old.
The father, Logan Kocsis, 23, of Lore City, Ohio was charged with Felonious Assault, a felony of the 2nd degree, and two counts of Endangering Children, both felonies of the 2nd degree
Authorities discovered the alleged abuse Monday after they responded to a local medical facility regarding the injured baby. They say the baby was treated for serious physical harm, including multiple bone fractures.
Guernsey County Sheriff’s Detectives began an investigation and gathered evidence and statements about how the baby was injured that they believed were contradictory.
Paden said detectives learned that the baby allegedly sustained the injuries due to non-accidental physical abuse and assault administered by the father, Kocsis.
Kocsis was arrested and booked into the Guernsey County Jail, where he remains in custody.
Paden said the investigation is still ongoing and stated that more charges are expected when this case is presented to the Grand Jury. Sheriff’s Office Detectives continue to work with the Guernsey County Prosecutor’s Office, Guernsey County Children Services and the Haven of Hope on this case.
