Apprehended! Police have suspect in custody for Ohio mass shooting

UPDATE: Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025 at 10:13 a.m.

The City of New Albany reports that the suspect from the KDC/ONE shooting has been taken into custody.

Authorities executed a search warrant at home in Columbus, Ohio where authorities apprehended Bruce Reginald Foster III.

No further updates on the status of the victims or investigation are available at this time.

The New Albany Police Department thanked the assisting partner agencies at the city, county, state, and federal authorities.


LICKING COUNTY, Ohio – Police are searching for a suspect in a mass shooting at a central Ohio company that left one person dead and five others injured, according to a statement from the City of New Albany.

Police say the suspect is Bruce Reginald Foster III. He is 6-feet tall, weighing 175 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, the New Albany Police Department (NAPD) responded to reports of an active shooter at KDC/ONE in the 8000 block of Smith’s Mill Road. KDC/ONE is a beauty, personal care, and home care product manufacturer, according to its website

As of 5:54 a.m. Wednesday morning, authorities can confirm that approximately 150 employees safely evacuated and one person dead is inside the building. Five individuals were transported to local hospitals and their conditions are unknown.

New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones emphasized the department’s rapid response, saying, “This is a heartbreaking and tragic situation. Our officers, alongside multiple agencies, responded swiftly to protect lives and secure the scene. We train for situations like this, and while it is something no community ever wants to face, we were prepared to act quickly and effectively. We will continue working to bring this situation to a full resolution.”
