Belmont County commissioners cheer on two championship squads

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – The Belmont County Commissioners were the ones doing the cheering at Wednesday’s meeting when they issued a proclamation honoring the accomplishments of two local high school cheerleading teams, the St. Clairsville Red Devils and the Barnesville Shamrocks.

The Barnesville Shamrocks squad earned their fourth OHSAA title this year and shared the 2025 OVAC title with the Union Local team.

The St. Clairsville Red Devils squad earned their fourth consecutive OHSAA title and their 17th consecutive OVAC win.

St. Clairsville coach Kara Kapiskosky said the cheerleaders began practicing last June in preparation for February’s competition, sometimes working on their routines and skills six days week.

“it was a great season. I’m looking forward to more years ahead.”

The commissioners congratulated the cheerleaders and coaches on their success and for showcasing Belmont County talent.
