Local firefighter remains hospitalized following Monday’s blaze

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – One firefighter remains hospitalized with serious injuries as of Wednesday evening following a fire in Bellaire Monday, according to Bellaire Fire Department Assistant Chief Timothy Bell.

The blaze broke out around 3 a.m. Monday morning at DeVendra’s Auto and Tire Center on 34th Street in Bellaire. Bell said the business is a total loss.

Bell said two other firefighters were also injured in the blaze and were treated and released from local hospitals. One firefighter was able to return to work.

Bell said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The Ohio Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
