ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio – Imagine a room filled with natural light from large windows in a well-designed two-story building with all the latest technology and amenities. From the waiting room you watch deer playing on the manicured lawns outside. Friendly, professional staff members greet you.
Is this room in a spa or fine hotel? This is actually the setting for rooms in the new Trinity Health System St. Clairsville Neighborhood Hospital scheduled to open July 21, a facility expected to bring more than 60 jobs to Belmont County.
Dwayne Richardson, President of the new St. Clairsville hospital and also Twin City Medical Center in Dennison, Ohio, spoke to a crowd of community members Monday evening at a welcome event held at Undo’s West in St. Clairsville.

and so what we want is to not only have to share some transparency with individuals, but we want to let that natural
light flow in, and we want patients to have a healing environment.”
Richardson explained the hospital’s mission in an interview with Karen Fatula, News Director:
Richardson says the new St. Clairsville Neighborhood Hospital was a project five years in-the-making and that it will fill a need in the Ohio Valley left by the closures of East Ohio Regional Hospital and Ohio Valley Medical Center.
He said the new hospital will create 62 new local jobs plus volunteer opportunities, which you can learn more about on the Trinity Health System website.
“These are full-time equivalent positions that we are bringing to the actual community itself. So that’s pretty exciting that

we have all these jobs that are here and we have jobs at all levels. So you don’t have to necessarily have a skill.
If you can do something and you showed up today, we can use you. If you don’t want to work, guess what? We have
volunteer positions.”
Richardson emphasized that all patients will be treated with dignity at the new hospital. According to the Trinity Health System website, Trinity is “part of CommonSpirit Health, a nonprofit, Catholic health system dedicated to advancing health for all people.”

going to be treated with dignity and respect. That’s going to be our biggest thing. When you pass by at night, you’re going to see a
broad, lit cross on the outside of the hospital.”
The hospital will keep a local, welcoming touch while providing world-class care. The walls are decorated with photos of St. Clairsville and Belmont County taken by a local photographer. The new hospital will also offer a more personalized approach to patient care while offering some amenities only seen in larger metropolitan centers.
Richardson outlined some of the services and features of the St. Clairsville Neighborhood Hospital:
- 20,000 square feet, two-structure building
- Open 24/7
- 10-bed emergency room
- Six inpatient rooms for short-stay services with one ICU capable room
- Three fast-track trauma bays
- Dedicated bariatric room designed for larger patients
- Dedicated GYN room
- Behavioral health room
- Two operating suites (the largest locally) with top-notch equipment
- Orthopedic surgery, ENT, and urology services
- Neurology
- Pain Medicine
- Helicopter landing zone for patients needing transferred to other facilities
Richardson added that the hospital has potential to grow. Trinity Health System purchased the former NAPA Auto Parts building adjacent to the hospital, and he said the hospital group would likely demolish that older structure in the future.
