BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – Another improvement is coming to the Blaine Bridge, the Belmont County Commissioners announced at their regular Wednesday meeting.
Commission President J.P. Dutton said the State of Ohio awarded nearly $400,000 in state grant funding to Belmont County to redesign the base of the bridge intersection.
Dutton noted that the lower Blaine Bridge intersection has posed a traffic dilemma for motorists for decades with some drivers bypassing it through narrow residential streets. Commissioners did not provide a timeline for the project but said local officials had discussed it for many years.
ODOT is ramping up its work on the bridge, which it closed last summer due to its deteriorating infrastructure.
The county also received funding to rework an intersection in the Village of Belmont.
