ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio — A fuel mix-up at the Sam’s Club gas station in St. Clairsville has left an unknown number of drivers dealing with costly vehicle repairs after diesel fuel was mistakenly pumped into the unleaded gasoline tanks over the weekend.

According to officials, a third-party fuel supplier accidentally delivered diesel into storage tanks meant for 87-octane unleaded fuel. The mistake went undetected until customers began reporting that their cars wouldn’t start after filling up at the station.

Sam’s Club has since acknowledged the issue and is urging any affected members to contact the club directly to submit a claim.

While the station is currently out of 87 unleaded fuel, it remains unclear how many vehicles were impacted. Sam’s Club says once they were notified, they moved quickly to stop further damage and begin resolving the issue.
