COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Senate President Rob McColley is warning lawmakers and residents that the state’s property tax system is “out of control,” calling for urgent reform during the latest Ohio Senate GOP podcast.
McColley said the Senate’s proposal would rein in rising assessments and create more transparency, but cautioned that failure to act could have “serious consequences” for homeowners and local governments.
Democrats and local leaders have pushed back, arguing the plan could shift financial burdens and destabilize school funding.
McColley said the issue will remain a top priority as the Senate moves toward its next legislative session.
