OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. — Ohio County Sheriff Nelson Croft praised two deputies Monday for their heroic actions in rescuing a man suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Deputies Aidan Zamborsky and Brenda Lesnett responded to a call this past weekend at an apartment complex on GC&P Road, where they found a man unresponsive in a basement. Despite showing symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure themselves, the deputies, along with the West Liberty Fire Department, safely removed the man from the hazardous environment.

All three individuals required hospital treatment. Tests of the basement revealed dangerous levels of both sewer gas and carbon monoxide, underscoring the severity of the situation.

Sheriff Croft commended the deputies for their quick thinking and bravery, noting that their actions likely saved the man’s life.
