BRIDGEPORT, Ohio – In October 2025, the Belmont County Sheriff’s Criminal Interdiction Unit began investigating Michael Scott Lucas, 44, of Bridgeport, Ohio, for suspected drug trafficking.

The investigation led detectives to the Presidential Estates trailer court in Bridgeport, where they conducted surveillance and observed activity consistent with drug trafficking. Deputies also initiated several traffic stops on vehicles leaving the area.

On October 21, 2025, detectives conducted a traffic stop and arrested Michael Goode, 57, of Wheeling, West Virginia, and Matthew Sberna, 51, of Warwood, West Virginia, for trafficking and possession of fentanyl. Investigators recovered approximately 21 grams of fentanyl and two firearms. Both men were booked into the county jail on charges of possession and trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound.

Two days later, on October 23, 2025, detectives executed a search warrant on Eisenhower Avenue in Bridgeport, where they arrested Lucas and McKenna McNickle, 32, also of Bridgeport. Inside the residence, investigators found a firearm, drug proceeds, paraphernalia, and approximately 121 grams of suspected fentanyl.

Lucas was charged with having weapons under disability, possession of criminal tools, possession of fentanyl, and trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound. McNickle was charged with possession of criminal tools, possession of fentanyl, and trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound.

Sheriff James Zusack praised the ongoing efforts of the Sheriff’s Office to combat drug trafficking, saying he commends “the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office to combat the never-ending illegal narcotics problem in Belmont County.”
