BRIDGEPORT, Ohio – The Bridgeport Police Department is warning residents and business owners about a scam involving someone falsely claiming to collect donations on behalf of the department.
In a statement, police said they were made aware of an individual contacting local businesses and community members, asking for contributions supposedly to support the department.
“This is a scam,” officials said, emphasizing that the department is not soliciting donations.
Police thanked the community for its continued support and generosity but urged everyone to verify any fundraising requests before making a donation.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call or message asking for donations on behalf of the department is encouraged to contact the Bridgeport Police Department directly.
