MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. — Plans for a new indoor recreation center in Moundsville are moving forward after the Marshall County Commission approved a $1.5 million grant to support the project.
The new facility is planned for the site of the former Sanford School and is expected to span 20,000 square feet. The grant brings the city to roughly half of its total funding goal for construction.
City Manager Rick Healy said the city is continuing to seek additional partners to help complete funding for the project, which will provide expanded recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.
Officials say more details on construction timelines and design plans will be announced once additional funding is secured.
