MARTINS FERRY, Ohio – Martins Ferry Police Chief Vincent West briefed City Council Wednesday evening on preliminary plans to replace the city’s aging mechanical parking meters with a modern electronic payment system.
Chief West explained that the proposed system would require drivers to enter their license plate numbers when paying for parking. He said the change would streamline enforcement and allow officers to use their time more efficiently.
West noted that he is still researching the costs associated with implementing the new system and plans to present those findings to council once the information is complete.
