Toronto Waives Water Late Fees After Postal Service Billing Error

0

TORONTO, Ohio — Water customers in the City of Toronto will not be charged late fees this month after a billing issue caused by the U.S. Postal Service led to widespread delays.

According to city officials, a Postal Service facility in Pittsburgh mistakenly marked a number of Toronto water bills as “Return to Sender,” preventing them from being delivered on time. The error resulted in many customers receiving their bills far later than usual.

In response, Toronto City Council voted to waive all late fees for the current billing cycle to ensure residents are not penalized for a mistake outside their control.

City officials say normal billing operations are expected to resume, and customers who have questions are encouraged to contact the Toronto Water Department.
