0

A section of WV 2 in Weirton will be closed on Saturday, November 22, 2025, to accommodate the city’s annual Christmas on Main Street Celebration.

According to Hancock County officials, the closure will affect Main Street from County Route 507 (Cove Road) to Marland Heights Road. The roadway will be shut down from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. to allow for event setup, activities, and pedestrian traffic.

Local law enforcement will maintain traffic control throughout the day. Drivers are urged to follow posted signs, reduce speed, expect delays, and use alternate routes.

Suggested alternate routes include WV 2 (Main Street) to County Route 507 (Cove Road) to U.S. 22, or WV 2 to Lee Avenue to West Street to Marland Heights. Additional city-maintained routes will also be available.

Officials note that inclement weather or unexpected circumstances could alter the schedule.
