Fire Prompts Evacuation of 50 Residents at St. Clairsville Apartment Building

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio — About 50 residents were forced to evacuate the Kontogiannis Terrace Apartments on Sunday morning after a fire broke out inside the building.

Fire crews responded quickly and traced the source of the blaze to a dryer located on the second floor. While firefighters contained the fire before it could spread further, the building sustained significant water damage during the response.

Authorities report that no injuries were reported among residents or first responders. Residents were allowed to return once the building was deemed safe.

St. Clairsville fire officials remind the public to maintain and regularly clean dryers and vents to help prevent similar incidents.
