Weekend Fire Destroys Jefferson County Home, Claims Three Dogs

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio – A weekend fire destroyed a Jefferson County home in the Richmond area.

Flames tore through the residence along Meadow Drive, just off Route 43. When crews arrived on scene, they reported heavy fire conditions throughout the home.

Six local fire departments responded to battle the blaze. Firefighters were able to rescue one of the homeowner’s four dogs, but the remaining animals did not survive.

There were no injuries to people. Officials say the home is a total loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
