BENWOOD, W.Va. — Response times for swift water rescues across the area are expected to improve as local first responders begin training with a new swift water rescue truck being placed into service by the Benwood Fire Department.
The specialized vehicle is equipped to store and transport rescue gear for four divers, including sonar equipment and drones designed to assist in search and rescue operations.
Benwood officials say the truck will also be used in cross-training exercises with other local fire departments and emergency agencies, strengthening regional coordination for swift water and other water rescue situations.
