BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – Martins Ferry Police Chief Vincent West says the city will not move forward with plans to switch to a smartphone-based parking payment system.
West says the decision came after hearing concerns from older residents, who worried about accessibility issues tied to the proposed change. Among the concerns raised was how far drivers might have to walk to reach a kiosk or manage payments using unfamiliar technology.
City officials say the feedback made it clear the system could create hardships for some residents, prompting the chief to abandon the plan and keep the current parking arrangement in place.
