COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio – An application period is now open for expanded potable water sampling in Columbiana County, aimed at residents still concerned about water quality following the East Palestine train derailment.
The East Palestine train derailment occurred on February 3, 2023.
The program is intended for households that were unable to secure testing during earlier phases of the response. To qualify, applicants must have a private well located within Columbiana County but outside the current primary testing zones.
Applications must be submitted to the Columbiana County Health District by the end of January. Eligible residents will be notified with further instructions once applications are reviewed.
Officials say the additional sampling is designed to provide reassurance and address lingering concerns about drinking water safety in the county.
