WEIRTON, W.Va. — Weirton City Council has held off on reopening the County Road Fire Station for now.
City leaders say the primary concern is the estimated $600,000 per year needed to adequately staff and supply the station. That figure includes personnel costs as well as equipment and operational expenses required to keep the station fully functional.
Supporters of reopening the station have suggested increasing the Weirton Municipal Fee as a possible funding source.
