Driver Killed in Early Morning Crash on U.S. 22 in Jefferson County

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — One person was killed in an early-morning crash Wednesday on U.S. 22 in Jefferson County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The collision between a Freightliner semi-truck and a crossover SUV occurred around 5:30 a.m. on the westbound lanes near the split with state Route 7.

Authorities identified the victim as 34-year-old John David Ruiz of Steubenville. Officials say his vehicle caught fire following the impact.
