EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio — An East Liverpool High School senior is being credited with quick thinking after helping a bus driver who was experiencing a medical emergency.
Presley Jones stepped in while the girls basketball team had stopped at a McDonald’s, when the team’s bus driver began showing signs of a heart attack.
Jones, who learned CPR through career and technical education classes at the school, immediately began performing CPR on the driver while others called for help. She continued lifesaving efforts until paramedics arrived on the scene.
Emergency responders later told Jones that the driver was expected to be fine.
Jones said the experience reinforced her desire to pursue a medical career. After graduating, she hopes to take college classes and eventually become a nurse anesthetist.
