SHADYSIDE, Ohio — The Village of Shadyside will begin issuing fines Friday for properties deemed to be nuisances.
Mike Meintel, mayor of Shadyside, told Shadyside Village Council during Monday night’s meeting that property owners cited for violations will have 10 days to correct the issues.
If the problems are not addressed within that time, the village will begin issuing fines of $100 per day until the property is brought into compliance.
In Ohio, a nuisance property generally refers to land or a building that negatively affects public health, safety, or the quality of life in a neighborhood. The exact definition can vary by city or village ordinance, but it is usually based on the broader concept of public nuisance in Ohio law.
