HARRISON COUNTY, Ohio — A suspect is in custody following a shooting, high-speed chase, and standoff that shut down U.S. Route 22 near Hopedale on Monday.

According to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Decker, 53, allegedly fired at a deputy along U.S. 250 before fleeing the scene.

Authorities say Decker then led officers on a high-speed pursuit onto U.S. Route 22, where the chase came to an end after spike strips were deployed to stop the vehicle.

Investigators said the suspect fled into a wooded area near Hopedale, prompting a standoff with law enforcement. Officials say the situation ended after officers shot the suspect, who was then taken into custody.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has taken over the case.

No additional details on the suspect’s condition or the status of any injuries have been released.
