WEIRTON, W.Va. — The City of Weirton will receive a $1 million congressional earmark for water system upgrades through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The funding was announced by the office of U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito as part of a broader package of infrastructure projects across the state.
Weirton’s Water Board is required to complete system upgrades within five years following an investigation by the West Virginia Public Service Commission into a series of waterline breaks in early 2025.
City officials say the funding will help address aging infrastructure and improve system reliability.
