OHIO – The Ohio State Highway Patrol has introduced a new tool to help enforce speed limits along the Ohio Turnpike — a semi-truck.

The patrol says two troopers ride inside the cab during enforcement operations. One trooper drives the truck and operates radar equipment, while the second identifies speeding vehicles and communicates with patrol units on the roadway.

Troopers in marked cruisers then make the actual traffic stops after receiving confirmation of the target vehicle from the semi-truck team.

Officials say the elevated vantage point from the truck cab gives troopers a better view of traffic and helps identify dangerous driving behaviors along the turnpike.
