WHEELING, W.Va. — A Wheeling man was arrested on drug charges Monday morning after a routine traffic stop led officers to discover methamphetamine inside his vehicle.
Wheeling Police were patrolling Wheeling Island at approximately 8 a.m. when they pulled over a vehicle on North Wabash Street near Bridge Park. Upon approaching the driver, an officer spotted suspected narcotics in the car.
The substance was later tested at police headquarters and confirmed to be approximately 22.6 grams of methamphetamine.
The driver, Gabriel Matthew Gelina, 22, of Wheeling, was taken into custody and brought before an Ohio County magistrate, where he was arraigned on one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Gelina was subsequently transferred to the Northern Regional Jail, where he is being held on $15,000 bond.
