WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump announced plans Monday for a major Independence Day event at the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument as part of the nation’s ongoing 250th anniversary celebration.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the July 4 gathering, dubbed “Tribute to America,” will begin at 7 p.m. Eastern and feature patriotic music, military performances, flyovers, air shows, and remarks from the president.
Trump described the event as the “most spectacular TRUMP RALLY” ever held and said it will celebrate America’s people, history, strength, and achievements.
According to the announcement, more than 300 members of U.S. military bands, orchestras, and ceremonial units are expected to perform patriotic songs and American classics throughout the evening. Trump also said military aircraft demonstrations and flyovers will be part of the program.
The event is expected to conclude with what Trump called the “largest fireworks show in history” in the nation’s capital.
The rally is one of several events planned by the administration to mark America’s 250th birthday. Earlier this year, officials announced a 16-day “Great American State Fair” on the National Mall featuring exhibits and participation from all 50 states.
A kickoff celebration for the fair is scheduled for June 24 and is expected to include military band performances, flyovers, and an appearance by country music artist Lee Greenwood.
While some artists and participating states have reportedly withdrawn from portions of the celebration, Trump expressed confidence that the events will be successful and encouraged Americans to attend the July 4 gathering in Washington.
The nation’s semiquincentennial celebration marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
