ZANESVILLE, Ohio — A Muskingum County man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to multiple offenses involving three child victims.
Adam Kennedy, 33, was sentenced June 15 in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court following guilty pleas to charges including rape, gross sexual imposition, importuning and pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor.
According to the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office, the charges stemmed from two separate cases involving three children. Authorities said the victims were identified through disclosures and investigative leads.
In one case, Kennedy pleaded guilty to rape of a child under the age of 10, gross sexual imposition and pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor. Under Ohio law, the rape conviction carried a mandatory life sentence.
Judge Kelly Cottrill sentenced Kennedy to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 23 years in that case.
In a separate case involving two child victims, Kennedy was sentenced to an additional 60 months in prison on charges of importuning and gross sexual imposition.
The court ordered the sentences to be served consecutively, resulting in a total sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 28 years.
Kennedy was also classified as a Tier III sex offender and will be required to register accordingly.
Muskingum County Prosecutor Ron Welch said the sentence ensures Kennedy will remain incarcerated for decades before becoming eligible for parole.
