JUNIOR, W.Va. — Four people died in a late-night house fire Wednesday in Barbour County, according to emergency officials.
The fire was reported just before 11 p.m. at a mobile home on River Avenue in the Town of Junior.
The Junior Volunteer Fire Department confirmed that four people were found dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the victims’ identities pending notification of their families.
When firefighters arrived, the mobile home was fully engulfed in flames. Crews were able to bring the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to assist with determining what sparked the blaze.
Several agencies responded to the scene, including the Philippi, Coalton and Belington fire departments, Barbour County EMS, Randolph County EMS, the West Virginia State Police, the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office and the Belington Police Department.
Officials have not released any additional information as the investigation continues.
