WHEELING, W.Va. — Oglebay Park Resort will officially open its new disc golf course with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on National Disc Golf Day, inviting the public to celebrate the addition of a new outdoor recreation option.

The grand opening is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, near Oglebay’s Par 3 Golf Course. Visitors attending the event are encouraged to park near Route 88 Burgers & Brew for convenient access to the course.

Following the ceremony, participants will have the opportunity to take part in a free introductory disc golf clinic led by longtime enthusiast and course donor Paul Ashmore.

The clinic will cover the basics of the sport, including throwing techniques, equipment and course etiquette, making it an opportunity for beginners to learn the game.

The new course was designed with players of all experience levels in mind, featuring two scenic nine-hole layouts with multiple tee pad and basket locations. The design allows visitors to play either a nine-hole round or a full 18-hole course.

Disc golf has continued to grow in popularity nationwide, and Oglebay officials say the new course will provide another family-friendly outdoor activity for residents and visitors alike.

Community members of all ages are invited to attend the ribbon cutting, learn about the sport and be among the first to play Oglebay’s newest recreational attraction.
