The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on U.S. Route 30 near East Liverpool. Troopers say a 23-year-old Martins Ferry man struck a stopped vehicle Wednesday, killing a 63-year-old East Liverpool woman. The vehicle’s driver and a child were seriously injured and transported to a Pittsburgh hospital, while the Martins Ferry driver suffered minor injuries.
West Virginia environmental regulators are accepting public comments on a proposed pig iron manufacturing facility in Follansbee. The project, planned for the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel property, would produce up to 250,000 tons of pig iron annually while reusing material from the site’s existing sinter pile.
