CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Organizations planning land conservation projects in West Virginia can now apply for funding through the state’s Outdoor Heritage Conservation Fund.
The grant program supports projects intended to preserve wildlife habitat, working forests, farmland and natural areas used for hunting, fishing and other outdoor recreation.
Both small and large grants are available. Applications requesting more than $25,000 are classified as large grants, according to the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
State officials said the fund may award up to $700,000 across all selected projects during the current grant cycle.
The West Virginia Legislature established the Outdoor Heritage Conservation Fund to invest in the long-term protection of the Mountain State’s natural resources and outdoor spaces.
Applications must be submitted by Oct. 31. Additional eligibility requirements and application materials are available through the Outdoor Heritage Conservation Fund’s website.
