President Trump Visits Youngstown, Predicts Sharp Drop in Gas Prices Ahead of Election

YOUNGSTOWN, OH — President Donald Trump visited Youngstown on Monday, October 12, for a campaign rally supporting Republican U.S. Senator Jon Husted and Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, as the November midterm elections approach.

The visit comes amid a closely watched U.S. Senate race between Husted and former Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown, with recent polling indicating a competitive contest.

During a one-on-one interview with Cleveland’s WKYC 3News, Trump addressed rising gasoline prices and predicted that costs at the pump would fall significantly once the conflict involving Iran comes to an end.

Trump told the station that gasoline could drop to approximately $1.85 per gallon, suggesting the decrease could occur before the election or shortly afterward. He attributed elevated oil prices to the ongoing conflict and expressed confidence that prices would decline as tensions ease.

The prediction comes as Ohio drivers continue to face higher fuel costs. According to AAA, the statewide average stood at $3.84 per gallon Tuesday, compared with $2.77 at the same time last year.

Ohio recently implemented a temporary gas tax holiday, which began October 4 and is scheduled to continue through January 2. The measure suspends the state’s fuel tax, providing motorists with savings of 38.5 cents per gallon of gasoline.

Trump’s appearance also highlighted the national attention surrounding Ohio’s Senate race. Early voting is underway, and both parties are working to mobilize supporters ahead of Election Day on November 3.

While Trump expressed optimism about falling fuel prices, his $1.85 prediction remains a forecast rather than a confirmed outcome. Future prices will depend on oil markets, supply conditions and developments overseas.
