MARTINS FERRY, Ohio – East Ohio Regional Hospital (EORH) in Martins Ferry, Ohio is shuttering its long-term care and skilled nursing facility, according to an email that was sent by management to employees Monday and obtained by River News Network.
The email states that EORH is closing these operations to focus on acute care medicine.
EORH’s email states they are working to relocate long-term care residents and transfer staff to open positions at the hospital.
The email states that ” LTC/SNF will also remain fully staffed while placement arrangements are being coordinated to ensure quality care for the residents and appropriate support for their families and caregivers.”
Management at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry may also be dealing with a financial crisis as the Belmont County Auditor’s Office states foreclosure proceedings may be considering to address hospital property — owned by Access Martins Ferry LLC — having over $1.5 million in unpaid taxes dating back to 2019.
EORH employees have also reached out to River News Network with concerns over health insurance premiums allegedly not being paid by the hospital.
