Bellaire business suffers heavy damage following structure fire

UPDATE May 12 at 11 a.m.

BELLAIRE, Ohio – River News Network was on the scene early Monday morning as firefighters were wrapping up their hours long battle of a blaze at a Bellaire business.

DeVendra’s Auto Care and Tire Center suffered heavy damage.

Crews on the scene still on the scene at 7:30 a.m. included Bellaire VFW and OR & W. Bridgeport Police were present to direct traffic away from 34th Street while crews worked to put out hot spots.

Belmont County EMA and the Salvation Army also responded.

The Bellaire Assistant Fire Chief would not answer questions at the scene after the situation seemed under control.

BELLAIRE, Ohio – Multiple fire departments responded to a structure fire early Monday morning at DeVendra’s Auto Care and Tire Center at 601 34th Street in Bellaire.

According to reports, the fire call went out at 3:09 a.m. and firefighters were on the scene between 3:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

As of 6 a.m. Monday morning, the fire is mostly knocked down but crews are still handling hot spots.

There is no word yet about the extent of damage or if there were any injuries.

Ten tankers were on scene. Some of the many fire departments responding included Bellaire, Spirit of 76 and Martins Ferry.
