When will Route 40 in the Bridgeport area reopen?

BRIDGEPORT, Ohio – Motorists traveling along Route 40 in the Brookside area near Bridgeport may soon celebrate as the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) nears completion of its culvert project.

ODOT officials estimate the work will wrapped up before the Thanksgiving holiday next week. The project was not slated to be done until Nov. 30.

Weather permitting, we estimate that the work will be complete before Thanksgiving.

Lauren Borell, Public Information Officer, ODOT District 11

The project has caused traffic backups eastbound and westbound along Route 40 in Brookside and Bridgeport which have been compounded by the closure of the Blaine Hill Bridge.

ODOT anticipates Blaine Hill Bridge project to begin by 2027

ODOT announced last week that it anticipates construction on the bridge project, now called the U.S. Route 40 Blaine Hill Arches of Memory Rehabilitation, to begin by 2037.
