BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – A Belmont County area that is becoming busier and seeing more traffic as businesses open will see a roadway improvement.
Lauren Borell, Public Information Officer for ODOT District 11 tells River News Network that the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is developing plans for an interchange improvement project at the I-70/State Route 149 interchange in the busy Morristown area.
The project involves widening State Route 149, widening the I-70 bridges over State Route 149 and relocating Rico Drive. Construction is anticipated to commence in 2026 with an estimated completion in 2029 and the current estimated cost for the project is $32,907,678.98.
Love’s Travel Center is expected to open in Morristown Jan. 30, according to reports. The Belmont-Morristown area is home to a Pilot Flying J Travel Center, multiple gas stations, restaurants and medical offices and Union Local High School. Barkcamp State Park is located nearby.
