WHEELING, W.Va. — The Wheeling Fire Department responded to a structure fire early Tuesday morning at a duplex located at 13 Ohio Street on Wheeling Island.
The initial 911 call came in at approximately 7:07 a.m., reporting a fire in the kitchen area of the residence. When firefighters arrived, they encountered smoke and flames coming from both the first and second floors of the building with fire extending into the roof.
Significant damage was sustained to the rear portion of the duplex and across both floors. Despite the extent of the blaze, crews were able to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
B Platoon crews from Engine Companies 2, 4, and 5, along with Rescue 1, Ladder 1, and Squad 2, responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
