BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – A traffic stop on Tuesday landed a man and woman in jail after detectives with the Criminal Interdiction Unit discovered a significant quantity of suspected illegal narcotics in a vehicle traveling through Morristown, according to Belmont County Sheriff James Zusack.
During the stop, detectives located suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl. According to authorities, two occupants in the vehicle allegedly attempted to destroy and conceal the drugs during the stop. Their efforts were unsuccessful, and both individuals were taken into custody on multiple felony charges.
Authorities identified the suspects as Terri Thomas, 26, of Powhatan Point, Ohio and Dakota Leasure, 30, of Belmont, Ohio. Both were arrested and transported to the Belmont County Jail, where they were booked on charges including trafficking and possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.
In addition to the drug charges, Thomas and Leasure also face felony counts of tampering with evidence and conveyance of drugs into a detention facility.
