Don’t forget! Early voting now open for the Ohio 2025 primary election

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — With the major election just behind us in Nov. 2024, Ohioans may forget there is a spring primary election on May 6.

With early voting, Ohioans began casting their ballots on Monday, April 8.

Among the key items on the ballot is State Issue 2, a proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution that would authorize the state to issue up to $2.5 billion in general obligation bonds over 10 years. The funding would support public infrastructure capital improvements such as roads, bridges, sewers, and water lines. The measure was introduced through a bipartisan joint resolution in the Ohio General Assembly, according to Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose.

Early voting began this week at county Boards of Elections and continues through the day before Election Day, which is Tuesday, May 6.

On Election Day, May 6, polls across the state will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Locally, Belmont County residents can vote early at the Board of Elections office located at 52180 National Road in St. Clairsville. Their hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. They have extended hours from April 28 to May 2 of 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. plus weekend hours on Saturday, May 3 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, May 4 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
