OHIO — Voters across Ohio will head to the polls tomorrow, May 6, to vote on State Issue 2, a proposed statewide measure that would authorize the state to issue bonds for infrastructure improvements.
Belmont County officials are calling on voters to support State Issue 2, a proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution that would allow the state to issue up to $2.5 billion in general obligation bonds over the next decade. The Belmont County Commissioners also voiced their unanimous support of Issue 2.
“It’s a quality of life issue.” Belmont County leaders say passing State Issue 2 is vital
If approved, Issue 2 would allow Ohio to borrow funds to support the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, water systems, and other public infrastructure. Proponents argue the bond issue is vital for modernizing outdated facilities and creating jobs, while critics express concerns about the long-term debt implications.
