Parts of National Road Bridgeport, Ohio flooded Thursday evening following heavy rains.

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. — Heavy rain Thursday evening brought more flooding to Ohio County, drenching roadways and hitting communities still recovering from the deadly June 14 floods that claimed the lives of nine residents.

By 10 p.m., the Wheeling Police Department reported several road closures due to high water and debris, including National Road in Woodsdale, Elm Street, 29th Street, East Bethlehem Boulevard in the Elm Grove-Bethlehem area, and sections of Elm Terrace. Although water had begun to recede by late evening, debris and mud left behind continued to make some areas impassable.

In Belmont County, Ohio, Bridgeport and other nearby communities experienced street flooding.

No injuries were immediately reported from Thursday’s flooding, but emergency crews remained active throughout the evening monitoring water levels and assisting with cleanup efforts.
