WINTERSVILLE, Ohio — Community members who use the Lester Carney Track at Kettlewell Memorial Stadium in Wintersville will soon need a passcode to gain entry, Indian Creek Local School District officials announced Friday.
Beginning Aug. 22, the stadium will be permanently locked as part of new security measures. New fencing, gates, and a punch-code system were added this summer. Walkers who wish to continue using the track may obtain a free personal code by completing a short form at the district board office, located at Indian Creek High School.

Assistant Superintendent John Belt said the district wanted to enhance safety without shutting out community members.
“Our facilities will be locked and people have to come to the board office to receive a free code to walk in the stadium,” Belt explained.
Belt said new perimeter fencing now extends from the east end zone to the visitor stands and the general admission area on the home side. Signs have been posted to notify the public and Wintersville Police will continue routine patrols around the facility.
District leaders emphasized that the measures are designed to ensure safety while allowing residents who use the track responsibly to keep enjoying the facility.
