WHEELING, W.Va. — The 11th Annual Mountaineer Brewfest, a celebration of West Virginia’s craft beer industry, is set for today, Saturday, Aug. 16, at Heritage Port in downtown Wheeling.
Since its founding, the festival has raised more than $267,000 for local charities, with proceeds and matching tips donated through the Circus Saints & Sinners organization. This year’s event will once again be presented by title sponsor Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack, which has supported the festival for 11 consecutive years.
“Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack is proud to be a title sponsor of the 11th Annual Mountaineer Brewfest,” said Kim Florence, president and general manager of the racetrack and casino. “The Mountaineer Brewfest has become a festival favorite in Wheeling showcasing our talented West Virginia craft brewers while raising funds for our local charities. We are excited to be a part of it.”
This year’s proceeds will benefit the House of the Carpenter, a nonprofit on Wheeling Island founded more than 60 years ago by the United Methodist Church to help families in need. The organization now serves more than 1,400 individuals each week through programs such as a food pantry, thrift shop, utility assistance, and other life-changing services aimed at lifting families out of poverty.
Organizers say the Brewfest continues to grow as both a showcase for the state’s craft beer community and a major fundraiser for causes across the Upper Ohio Valley.
